Washington.org Inspires Mid-Winter Getaways with 40+ Consumer Discounts, 101 Date Ideas, Contest
(Washington, DC) – For the seventh consecutive year, Destination DC, the official marketing and tourism office for the nation’s capital, hosts Date Nights DC, a regional campaign inspiring mid-winter getaways throughout the month of February. The 2016 promotion bundles more than 40 unique deals and discounts offered by Washington, DC hotels, restaurants, theaters, attractions and tours, as well as 29 proposal-ready spots and 101 date-worthy itineraries tailored to couples, families and friends.
Playfully tagged “Upgrade your date night,” Date Nights DC marries the allure of the capital’s beloved attractions with the city’s new and under-the-radar experiences to create budget-friendly winter getaways. The campaign targets travelers within a three-hour drive of the nation’s capital. The promotion will debut January 11, 2016 with an ad-buy supporting 18 million Mid-Atlantic impressions as well as an original commercial and a web-enabled sweepstakes. Date Nights DC offers are presented on DateNightsDC.org, a dedicated microsite, as well as Destination DC’s website, Washington.org. The contest, date ideas and user generated contributions will be filtered by #DateNightsDC on @visitwashingtondc, the city’s Instagram channel.

Playing at select movie theaters throughout the Washington Metropolitan area, NYC, Philadelphia and Baltimore, the 2016 Date Nights DC commercial teases an easy-to-follow weekend itinerary for two: flirt in the listening stations at Som Records; be seduced by “Wonder” at the Smithsonian’s recently reopened Renwick Gallery; glide around the ice rink inside the National Gallery of Art’s Sculpture Garden; dine at Ten 01 on H Street’s buzzing restaurant row and start a pillow fight on sleepover at the Dupont Circle Hotel. The website has 101 additional itineraries to help visitors plan like a local.
