Archive Transcribe-a-thon: Frida Kahlo Papers

Help make our archival collections more accessible by transcribing Frida Kahlo’s personal letters.

May 18, 2024. From: 11:00 AM to 02:00 PM

NMWA’s Nelleke Nix and Marianne Huber Collection: The Frida Kahlo Papers consists of over 360 letters, postcards, notes, clippings, printed matter, and drawings related to the life and work of Frida Kahlo (1907 to 1954). Most of the material in this collection was generated between 1930 and 1935. A significant portion is a group of letters between Kahlo and members of her family.

During this event, participants will have the opportunity to assist the Library and Research Center by transcribing these handwritten letters into typed text as part of the museum’s commitment to making its archival collections more accessible to the public. Participants may work solo or in small groups. Drinks and snacks will be provided.

This is an in-person event. Registration required. Familiarity with reading handwriting and with the Spanish language is encouraged but not required. Please bring your own computer.
