U.S. Navy Memorial

The United States Navy Memorial

The United States Navy Memorial is located on Pennsylvania Avenue midway between the White House and the Capitol Building. It is a popular destination for Sea Service members and their families, tour groups, and businesses that host private events.

The Visitor Center is home to several interactive exhibits and displays that immerse visitors in the rich history and heritage of the Sea Services. It houses a large indoor theatre frequently booked for Hollywood movie screenings.

Visitors can search the Navy Log, the nation's largest publicly available database of Sea Service personnel, or view the Commemorative Plaque Wall, which features individuals, groups, ships, battles, events, and more.

They can also shop in the Ship's Store for apparel and gifts, or to buy their own Lone Sailor statue!

Outside the Visitor Center is a large granite plaza depicting the world that serves as the stage for concerts, outdoor movies, and commemorative ceremonies, which are all open to the public.

Overlooking the plaza is the original Lone Sailor statue, which has become an iconic, nationally renowned representation of American sailors. The plaza is decorated with signal flags, fountain pools, and bronze sculptures depicting Navy history.

The Navy Memorial's mission is to Honor, Recognize and Celebrate the men and women of the Sea Services, past, present and future, and to inform the public about their service.
