In celebration of WorldPride DC 2025 and the 50th anniversary of Pride in the nation’s capital, join me for an inspiring exploration of LGBTQ+ history, identity, and artistic expression at the Smithsonian American Art Museum and National Portrait Gallery.
Through striking portraits and groundbreaking works, we’ll uncover the stories of queer artists, activists, and icons who shaped culture and challenged conventions. From Walt Whitman’s poetic vision to Gertrude Stein’s influential salon and Mickalene Thomas’s bold, unapologetic art, this tour highlights the power of queer creativity.
This 1.5–2 hour guided experience offers a deeper look at how art reflects LGBTQ+ history, resilience, and pride. Whether you’re an art lover, history enthusiast, or simply curious to see the museum through a new lens, this tour will challenge perspectives, spark conversation, and celebrate the legacy of queer voices.
