Join us for Midsummer—one of Sweden’s most beloved traditions—right in the heart of Washington, DC!
Midsummer marks summer solstice, the longest day of the year, and a magical moment when the sun barely sets in Sweden. It’s also an occasion to celebrate life and love by gathering with family and friends.
On Midsummer Eve, we invite Washingtonians and visitors alike to the open-air terraced lawn of the Sylvan Theater for an evening full of joy, music, and community—all against the stunning backdrop of the Washington Monument. Dance around the maypole (midsommarstång), make your own flower crown, and celebrate like a true Swede.
What to Expect:
- Traditional Swedish maypole dancing
- Live music and performances
- Trivia, games, and fun for all ages
- Children’s activities and crafts
- Midsummer wreath-making station
- A lush green lawn perfect for your BYO picnic under the summer sky
