Dani Campana, membership manager at Destination DC, was selected for the U.S. Travel Association's 2021 Destinations Council Emerging Leaders program at ESTO, which took place in Los Angeles, Ca. from Aug. 15-17. The year-long program provides destination marketing professionals who are early in their careers with unique opportunities to grow leadership skills and advance their careers in the travel industry. "I'm honored to be a part of this incredible program," said Campana. "I cannot wait to learn from U.S. Travel board members and network with other emerging industry professionals."
Destination DC President & CEO Elliott Ferguson received the Destinations International Destination Organization Leadership Award for 2021. This award was created in 2017 and is amongst the association's most prestigious honors, recognizing those outstanding individuals who, through their exceptional work and achievements, have made a significant contribution to the destination marketing and management industry and a profound difference in the communities they serve.
Samuel Thomas, formerly the senior vice president and general manager of the Walter E. Washington Convention Center for 14 years, has been promoted to chief operating officer for Events DC. Thomas will have responsibility and oversight for all Events DC venue operations across all of its lines of business.
Chinyere Hubbard, formerly the vice president of communications & marketing for Events DC for nearly 13 years, has been promoted to senior vice president, communications and marketing. Hubbard will be responsible for marketing, communications and community engagement.
