Citi Open (July 31 – Aug. 8, Washington, DC)

DC’s oldest sporting tradition returned to the District at the Rock Creek Park Tennis Center after a one-year hiatus. Some of tennis’ most talented players from the men's circuit competed for 500 ranking points during the nine-day top-tier event.

Student and Youth Travel Association (SYTA) Annual Conference (Aug. 16-19, Virtual)
Attendee: Lindsay Hill
SYTA’s annual tradeshow consisted of pre-scheduled appointments for the student group tour industry as well as educational sessions and networking opportunities. Lindsay met with 18 clients virtually during the four-day event. The closing ceremony featured an animated video and welcome messages by Mayor Muriel Bowser, Elliott Ferguson, Theresa Belpulsi and Lindsay Hill in celebration of the return to a live annual conference in DC in 2022.

Mid-Atlantic Receptive Services (MARS) Harbor-To-Harbor Group Tour Operator FAM (Aug. 21-22, Washington, DC)
Attendee: Lindsay Hill
Receptive tour operator and DDC member MARS hosted a group tour operator familiarization tour of Washington, DC and Maryland for 18 attendees. The itinerary featured the following members: ARTECHOUSE, Museum of the Bible, International Spy Museum, City Cruises by Hornblower, Planet Word, Museum on O and O Street Museum, Ivy City Smokehouse, Smithsonian Arts and Industries Building, and the Ven at Embassy Row.

IPW 2021
DDC's tourism team will attend IPW 2021 in person in Las Vegas, Nv. from Sept. 18-22. The team can extend invitations to its booth to a limited number of members. If members are interested, please reach out to Letizia Sirtori, DDC's director of tourism, at [email protected] or 202-789-7008.
